Selling Domain Names

Buying and selling domain names (URLs) can be a good online income source. Indeed, many companies have full time staffs devoted to this niche industry. It is estimated that over 2 billion domains exist (though only 400K are active)  so there’s plenty of room for domain movement and profit for traders.

We began this game by purchasing some domain blocks on Flippa.com, an online marketplace since 2009 for buying & selling domains, websites & apps via auction or outright sales. After a few purchases from the same seller he contacted us directly when he had other offers.

Since we were purchasing blocks of multiple domains we had to take some we weren’t crazy about to secure those with more potential. When the less desirable came up for their yearly renewal we let them lapse if we thought they’d be losers.

Domains can be developed into fully or partially functional websites. They can operate as drop shipping sites for products connected to their name. Or they can be marketed to potential buyer who might have a business or interest related to the unique domain. There are many online courses and platforms available to teach one how to operate in this potentially lucrative field. Just do a Google search.
