Southwest Airlines

We LOVE Southwest Airlines. They are go to airline for all our domestic USA flights. We love their generous 2 bags fly free, no change fees, no blackout dates for rewards travel, no expiration of points and friendly flight attendants.

They are the world’s largest low-cost carrier with nearly 60,000 employees and about 4,000 departures a day during peak travel season. As of 2018, Southwest carried the most domestic passengers of any United States airline. The airline has scheduled service to 103 destinations in the United States and 10 additional countries.

Sign up for their Rapid Rewards Program to start earning valuable travel points when you fly with them or patronize one of their partners.

But the real action happens when you secure one of their 3 credit cards issued by Chase Bank. Their current promotion is 30,000 points plus a free Companion Pass (which means you can bring your friend along for free (excludes taxes and fees from $5.60 one-way) on every trip through February 28, 2022) after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. We were bonused 40K each when we signed up so check what they are currently offering as their promotions change often.

Each of us has the Premier Credit Card which is the middle of the 3 they offer. The annual fee is $99 but you get 6,000 free points each renewal. So important for us there are no foreign transaction fees.

When we eventually get back to the States we’ll upgrade to their Premier Card. It has a $149 annual fee but you get 7,500 points, a $75 annual travel credit (which pays for the upgrade), 4 upgraded boardings and a few more perks.
